This week, we’re excited to be talking about ways to include individuals with disabilities. According to the 2011 Disability Compendium, there are over 36 million Americans living with a disability. Given that this represents almost 12% of the nation’s population, does it not stand to reason that inclusion of the disability community on all levels should be a major topic of conversation? But what does inclusion mean?
As we all know, inclusion can take many forms from physical accessibility to disability etiquette and everything in between. This week, we want to highlight the ways in which people with disabilities can be included in society as a whole. We’ll be sharing information about web initiatives that are connecting people with disabilities with inclusive businesses, disability etiquette resources, and best of all, creative ways that ensure that people of all abilities can be active participants in the conversation.
